Medelco Cordless Glass Electric Kettle

An ok kettle but not the graal for a plastic contact free.
A quick impression after a few uses of this new kettle.

As a kettle this one is ok. It's not so pretty with a big and bulky plastic basis but it does the job it's asked for. Heating is fast enough and it's nice to see it through the glass. The handle is far enough from the glass that you won't feel the heat so another good point there. The kettle works fine and turn off by itself when the water is boiling.

I used to possess a Tefal 1.7L vitesse kettle and was quite happy with it despite the power button that had a tendency to turn off by itself. I was going to buy a new one when I read a commentary about the possible danger of heating water in plastic. Since it made sense to me I've been looking for a kettle that would prevent plastic contact with water and as many of you know it's a lot harder that it should be.
This kettle is supposed to be the answer to that, I think it's not perfect.

Doesn't turn off
I love the look of the kettle and that it is made of glass and was in the market for a new electric tea kettle. It boiled the water well but it does not turn off automatically. I returned the first and ordered a second one and it does not turn off automatically. I think it is too risky to have a product that heats up enough to make water boil and that does not turn off. The box, the directions and the advertisements say it will turn off automatically when the water boils and it does not.

Works, yes, but rusting after only a few months use
This kettle works fine (I haven't had any problem with automatic shut-off as did another reviewer here) but after only 3 months use, several small rust spots have appeared on the metal heating plate. I am meticulous about making sure I don't leave water sitting in the kettle--I empty it and set it open to dry after each use. This is not a high-quality product built to last; I'd recommend checking out another brand.

Shark Navigator Lift Around Pod Vacuum With Extra Attachments - Model NP320

Mostly Junk: Nice Idea, Poor Implementation
First of all, doesn't it seem strange (and marginally ethical) that many of the positive reviews are authored by Shark "Ambassadors"? Do they receive their units for free and then post (mostly) positive ratings. I wonder...

Regarding my experience: This unit is light and easy to use, but I found it poorly implemented, fragile and not well constructed. By their nature, vacuums see a bit of rough use. The first thing to fail was the cleverly designed power/rotary brush. This is the best attachment and it jammed after a few minutes of use; fixing it required 15 minutes+ of troubleshooting (the manual was marginally helpful) to remove some small debris. This experience repeated itself to the point where it rendered this attachment practically useless (although I reduced my down-time to several minutes per incident as I gained experience and expertise with this issue). Then, with a bit more use, the hose tore off, rendering the entire unit useless. Can not recommend it, feel...

Perfect for all of the other vacuum needs I have
I have a Dyson. It is "great", whatever. I needed a vacuum that I could easily get cobwebs, dog hair in corners and dust on floor trim, etc. This is really handy. Yes, my Dyson could also do all of that, BUT that means that I'd have to lug the thing around and fight the limited hose and so on. This is a handy vacuum in that I can "drag" it behind or I can throw it over my shoulder and move easily from one task to the next. I am by NO means a good housekeeper, but this vacuum from Shark makes it fun for me and that is half the battle. Oh, and I LOVE the "motorized" brush attachment. It gets the dog hair off of my microfiber and regular fiber sofas with ease. With that, it is FAR superior to my Dyson when I was using it for that task. Right now they are $80 at Costco. I do not use the accessory caddy.

I Love It
I'm not sure why all the negative posts are here. We are talking about the NP320, right? I just bought mine last week. I've been looking for something light weight and powerful to clean around the base boards, cob webs, under the refrigerator, behind the toilet, car and other such areas. Something I could carry like an exterminator does, going room to room and zapping out dirt in those hard to reach places. This little guy went above and beyond my expectations. First of all it's pretty darn quiet. Secondly,it is made of plastic, which makes it the right weight for the job of going room to room. Last, but not by any stretch least, it can suck the shirt right off your back. I've actually had to be very careful of how close I come to objects. I have destroyed some pages in a book and sucked the knob right off my fan while going over it to get dust. It's super easy to clean out and the filter is excellent! We could tell right away that the air was cleaner after using this machine...

Hoky PowerRotor PR3000 Sweeper

A superb product for those cleanups between a major vacuuming - 5 stars+++!!!
I use my heavy Hoover self-propelled vacuum once or twice a week. It does a superb job deep-cleaning and lifting the fibres of my carpets. At all other times between vacuuming I use the Hoky (what a misnomer!!!) for cleanups.

Over the years, I have tried many other types of "mini-cleaners" including several rechargeable and 120 volt. These include stick cleaners and hand-held cleaners, several with power nozzles.

Cleanup varies from poor to adequate with all of these. AND the rechargeable batteries never seem to last very long until they will not hold a decent charge - then the batteries cost as much as the whole cleaner to replace. Also 120v cleaners require a convenient outlet and their power cords to be released then rewound after use. The ones with small dirt containers need to be emptied and their small filters usually need to be brushed off and washed after each use if their (often feeble) suction is to remain effective.

The Hoky is always ready...

Great for restaurant use
We go through about one every year and a half in our busy restaurant. It's great, picks food and debris left on the floor after customers leave. Very durable, practical and quiet.

Kinda Hokey
Based on the other reviews here I bought the Hoky with high hopes.
Sadly they were dashed. The Hoky does not pick up dog hair off my wood or tile floors and it doesn't take anything off pile carpet. It works OK on flat weave outdoor carpet and on the rubber flooring in our outbuilding.

I'll give it three stars because it's so much quieter and more energy efficient than a hand vac.

Black & Decker BCM1410B 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Glass Carafe

This coffee pot does not have permanent filter, as amazon claims it does. Otherwise it's a great coffee pot. It looks nice, fits well, performs as it should. The best featurs is how hot the coffee comes out and stays for at least 3 hours. Well worth the 30 bucks.

Simply Good!
Finally found a coffee maker that makes GREAT tasting coffee, is simple to clean, and is easy to fill. Had a Cuisinart Grind and Brew which lasted less than 3 1/2 years. Have had Mr. Coffee machines, as well as Black and Decker, and this one is the best. The coffee is nice and hot, too. The warming plate is good and hot, too. There is no way to have it shut off automatically after the coffee is done, but pushing the off button when you get the first cup works just fine. Hopefully, this is made in a different factory than the Cuisinart & Keurig models, which seem to have various, ongoing problems according to my experience, and that of various other reviewers.

She makes me coffee every morning
I used to roll out of bed and drag my feet over, clean my french press, boil the water... now, I wake up and consistently she has made me coffee on the programmed timer every morning. I awake to the smell and it's just fantastic. Don't know why I didn't make this change earlier. Makes getting up the morning super easy. No problems, carafe seems sturdy and I like that you can see the water or coffee levels with the gauge and clear glass. Easy programming and doesn't take up much countertop space.

Inexpensive, especially compared to local shops. If you have a few days of clothes extra to wait for the part to ship, which I think took 3 days, not bad, I would get on this product. Was a great deal cheaper than local and fixed my leak. Have probably ran 30loads of laudnry and has held up trhus far.

Air King 20-Inch 3-Speed Deluxe Box Fan #9700

Deserves better reviews that it has gotten so far
Last summer I bought five Air King window fans and one 20" box fan for my family's summer cottage in NE PA. I gave a five-star review to the window fans last year, but I neglected to review this excellent box fan. It's built well, has full air flow, a thermostatically controlled cooling knob and three speeds, sits still and does not rattle. I know it costs three times as much as other box fans, but if you've ever tried to nap with a twitching rattling rouring low power fan in the background, you will be happy to pay the extra price. With temps in the mid-90's in early June, I will be ordering one or two more.

Great air mover, and quiet
With local energy prices scheduled to soar this summer, I bought this fan hoping to be able to reduce the thermostat setting and still be comfortable. The two main criteria for me, since the unit was going to sit in my living room, were that it must be quiet, and it must be efficient. The fan has lived up to all expectations. Many fan makers do not publish their noise levels, but Air King did, and I have found the specs to be accurate. The lowest setting is quieter than my PS2 or XBOX. The 20" blades move plenty of air, even on Low. High is like sitting in a tropical storm, really needed only for quick cooling after a long period of yard work.

I like this fan, I find the quality to be just fine, and I would buy another in a heartbeat if I needed one.

Very poor workmanship
The first problem I noticed with my new King 9700 20" Deluxe Box Fan was the three places on top of the fan where the paint must have been chipped and then repaired with a brush. The repair was done very poorly. This obviously happened at the factory since the paint was touched up with the same color paint.

When I turned the fan on for the first time, I heard a loud vibration noise and I noticed the fan motor seemed to be out of balance. After some investigation, I removed the back grill and noticed that one of the bolts that mount the motor to the fan's frame was jammed into the windings area of the motor instead of into the mounting hole. After fixing that, I noticed the other three mounting bolts were not tightened.

The fan is much quieter now (the vibration noise is gone), but I still think it is very noisy, even on the low and medium speed settings.

I thought that by paying more for a fan I would get better quality and less noise. I was...

It Works
The delivery came on time. As for the product itself, I not as sturdy as the original filter that came with the hood vent but it works okay. With the price that I paid for, I cannot complaint much.

Just what we needed but had a hard time finding
My mother-in-law's stove is ancient, and we couldn't find a replacement for the gunky hood vent filter until we searched on Amazon. After quite a bit of hunting around the old filter, we found the item number, and found the exact match here.

We ordered with trepidition but when it arrived, it fit perfectly.

Bought this to replace the current filter. It is only the mesh part, does not include the charcoal filter. It fit into my hood fine. It arrived in an unpadded envelope and one was slightly bent. For the price it's an acceptable alternative. It does not however included charcoal so not sure what you could buy that will replace the OEM product.

Hunter 22720, Cortland Basque Black 54" Ceiling Fan with Light

Great fan overall but not thrilled with blades
I love the look of this fan but upon close inspectioin people can tell that the edges of the blandes are not "pinstriped" where the tan line is. It is just rough wood/particle board to create the look that it was painted. Mine is up high enough that no one but myself will know. Looks great in my update pre-civil war parlor.

Great addition
Purchsed this for our bedroom in new home. Has a very classic look and style and delivers great air movement. Had read light was not very good for most rooms. Was actually perfect for bedroom as it isn't too bright but gives off perfect lighting for reading in bed.

Love it
I was expecting the shades to be tan, but they are a sage green. I actually like them better. The installation is a pain. The wires didn't fit properly into the unit. After some time got it to work.

Euro-Pro Shark Replacement Battery Pack, EU-36075

Cannot believe the excellence!
Over the past few months I have been going round and round with Shark trying to get a replacement battery for my vacuum. After they sent me two incorrect batteries I finally said forget it and got my money back. I searched the internet and found this item for sale on Amazon. I ordered the battery and immediately received the replacement battery. It was the exact battery I had been trying to order for months. I was amazed at how quickly I received the battery. Now I have a working vacuum once again. Next time I need a replacement battery I will be looking you up. Thank you for everything.

Not happy
The first couple of charges it worked well. Now it won't hold the charge overnight. So you'll have to leave the charger on it all the time to use the vac.

Good quality and fit
Filter installed without a problem in about two minutes. After running a good bit of water (maybe a gallon) through the filter there is no off taste or smell to the water. I will buy this brand again when it is time to replace the current filter.

Works as advertized.
Good Price, works well after the initial couple of hours,, when it would deliver a few sand sized pieces of charcoal. At the price, I will live with the startup charcoal. Good for your teeth anyway.

I've tried all kinds of sharpeners over the years - stones, stone systems, gadget sharpeners. NOTHING I tried ever put on the kind of edge I was looking for . . . until the Selectool.

I bought one at an antique threshers reunion in North Carolina. I saw the guy dull up a machete, sharpen it with this tool, and then cut paper with it. "Okay," I said, "I'll try one more time."

I took it home and proceeded to sharpen every knife in my wife's knife block in about 5 minutes. I got a very sharp edge on all the knives, including the bread knife, very quickly with very little effort. Well, well. It looks like this thing actually works. I check her knives occasionally and they stay sharp. Very impressive for the price.

I've used it to sharpen a bunch of scissors in my house. I've got a bunch of kids and they dull up scissors fast. This tool sharpens every one of them quickly and easily.

SELECTOOL - Save your money
Purchased one and wish I hadn't. It is flimsy and difficult to hold and manage (it's only about 6" long). I am not able to get an edge on anything, and have had to have my knives 're-sharpened' that I attempted to sharpen with this gadget. The reviews you see are probably the, result of the "President" soliciting customers for a favorable review in exchange for a FREE additional tool. I fell into the trap when I received a request for a review in exchange for a free second tool, and I left a positive review thinking I could sell the additional tool and recover my loss. The sad news is the guy won't send the tool, or even respond to emails. What gives? Below is a copy of the email he sent to me asking me for a review of the product. I am sure others who have purchased the tool will recognize the email. Save your money and get an electrical sharpener than will actually put a decent edge on your blade(s).

This tool really works!
I've been carrying personal knives for over fifty years. I am compulsive about keeping them sharp. Until I purchased a SelecTool I always used stones for sharpening. I found that stones work okay for the softer blade metals, but once I got into the harder blades the stones were not as effective. However, once I began using the SelecTool I no longer encountered this problem. I now use the SelecTool for all my sharpening needs - both personal as well as around the kitchen. The sharpening stones I used to keep in a kitchen drawer are now somewhere in the garage.

Replacement Jenn Air Infinite Switch (top burner switch) 700855K

Cheap fix that works
Bought this part to fix two superheating elements (same side) on a Jenn Air range. One replacement switch was all that was needed, now both burners heat normally. I give this product high marks because it performs its function as intended. For $25 and about five minutes of repair time, I've got my stove back.

product works, deliver is fast, and email response quick. I have a old model of Jenn-air where the switch handle is one long piece without the screwing top so I had to take it off from the switch. That is done without much trouble.

This key is much, much cheaper than factory Suzuki keys. I took the key to the locksmith and had it cut and it works perfectly.

Poor Quality
The product is what it is. but it is extremely poor quality, it feels like it's a cheap plastic when you open it.. does not feel sturdy at all, I've had them sitting on my desk for a while and I dont even know if I want to waste my money trying to get them cut, as I am worried they will just break.

2 Ozone Plates for Alpine Ecoquest Living Air Purifiers

What a difference
I had my original plates for over 6 years and didnt know they should be replaced. Once I put the new plates in I noticed a huge improvement. I've had the new plates for a few months now and am very happy with them.

Vicks 1.5 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier

Good for the price
I bought this at Kmart for $21. They had extra filters there, and they're available online. The unit is in my 2-year-old's room and is very quiet. You do have to snap the lid on tightly, but then it stays in place. It used only about 1/4 of the water in the chamber overnight. The instructions recommend a thorough cleaning with vinegar once a week, which I will definitely do. A switch on the body of the humidifier would be nice (there's a dial-type power switch on the cord). I'm sure a $100+ unit would be more attractive and have more features, but for my needs this works fine.

Loud, Loud, Loud
We've had this humidifier for about 2 years now and use it only occasionally. The reason we use it sparingly is because it is way too loud. It has a very annoying vibrational noise that can be damped by pushing down hard on the lid. Since I can't stand next to it pushing the lid down all night, we have to put up with the amazingly loud humming. The other problem with this humidifier is that it is hard to clean inside the tube that draws-up the water. It is removable, but you need to have pipe-cleaners to get inside it. The non-removable disc in the lid is also filled with gunk that I can't get out. Save your money!

It is a major pain!
This humidifier is loud, but more importantly completely drenches the carpet beneath it. Every night I have to put 2 dry bath towels under it to collect the water that would otherwise be saoked into my carpet. Its SUCH A PAIN, not to mention the constant rotations of new dry towels. I guess you get what you pay for, I am going to get a more expensive one next but sure wish I could have saved this $30 from the beginning.

Oreck Vacuum Cleaner Hose

Hobbled Hose
This hose is a replacement for the original on an Oreck(tm) hand-held vacuum cleaner. The hose itself appears to be better material than the original - it is stronger and more flexible than the original. Unfortunately, it is made to connect directly to the pipe or end attachment used, now eliminating the intermediate rotatable elbow that came with the original. Keeping the twist out of the hose as you use the vacuum is now possible only by rotating the hose/attachments themselves. Good hose material but one star off for the reduced motion.

Very happy with vacuum cleaner hose, especially since the Oreck store said these were no longer in production and not available. I was so surprised that they were available from Amazon. Now I can use my expensive Oreck vacuum again!

Excellent product for the hand-held Oreck
This hose is longer than the original, exact fit on vacuum, and appears to be much better quality. The original hose cracked and broke, lost it's flexibility, and required lots of duct tape for it to function. I am very happy with this replacement.

Whirlpool 280114 Seal for Dryer

Perfect fit
This part fit perfectly on my Kenmore HE3 dryer. It took a bit of work to remove the old seals and clean away the adhesive. Be careful applying the new adhesive; it is viscous and will make long sticky strings that want to get everywhere. I set the drum on a couple of long pieces of scrap lumber so that I could roll it around as needed. Give the adhesive plenty of time to cure; the seal moved after I thought that it was set, but luckily, I was able to getting it back in place.

No more stains
Worked like a charm and easy ,too. In the past the old seal put dark streaks on the load to be dried.

Hamilton Beach Classic Chrome 2 Slice Toaster

great while it worked
This toaster worked very well for a while. It toasted evenly, had enough room for large bagels, and I had no complaints. I'm not sure how long I've had it, though I think it's around a year. Recently, something went wrong and it's stuck on the bagel function. So, it works just fine - but only on one side of the bread. To do regular toast, I have to flip the bread and re-toast on the other side. I suppose if it were more expensive, I'd be looking harder for how to repair it, but I think I'll just deal with it for a while until I find a replacement.

BTW, the toaster we had before it was the slanted T-Fal. Again, great while it lasted, but it didn't last long. It seems like small appliances are just made to break after a year or so - or we just have bad toaster karma.

Simple, functional, well priced
I recently bought a house and realized that I am in desperate need of kitchen appliances. This is one of the first appliances I purchased and I must admit that I am very pleased with it. Seeing that it is only me in the house having a two slice toaster as opposed to a four slice toaster is not an inconvenience. The only reason I did not give the toaster a 5/5 is because 1) I reserve that rating for the items that truly "wow" me and 2) I have not owned it/used it enough to fairly rate it as exceptional. What I can say is:

Pros: Looks clean and sharp in the kitchen with the stainless steel finish. Toasts evenly and offers a great range between warming and "crispy". Holds bagels (huge perk in my book).

Cons: None so far

This toaster looks nice but it gets VERY HOT. I returned it. There is no way you could touch any part of this toaster without getting burnt... Perhaps it was a defect but I ordered a cuisine art toaster that looks similar but does not get hot at all.

Whirlpool W10006355 Actuator

Top load Cabrio washer not spinning out.
Purchased a new Cabrio (VMW) Vertical Modular Washer and dryer set back in 2011 with the standard 1 year warranty. 8 months out of warranty, it stopped spinning out the water on final spin cycle, then later it stopped agitating.

Upon doing a little research, I discovered that these washers are notorious for shift actuators going bad and there is good reason for this. The shift actuator is on the bottom of the drum and the drum is supported by 4 long nylon hangers which allows the drum to move freely. When a load becomes unbalanced as they sometimes do and even balanced loads on final spin do vibrate, the shift actuator over time can and does take a beating, therefore they go bad.

These washers have a diagnostics mode which is a little tricky to get into but there are really good videos on how to get into diagnostics mode and even how to replace the actuator on these machines which is only about a 5 minute job once you have the washer unhooked and laid over on...

Works as advertised!
My Whirlpool washer a few weeks broke on me and my wife. it's only been in service for two years. Basically the washer would just stop altogether in mid-cycle. Sometimes pressing pause and start would move it along, but sometimes it doesn't.

After doing some research online I was able to find the tech sheet of my washer online. After running through the tests I found my error code to be F7 E0, which most of the online supports indicate to have this Actuator replaced. I thought to give it a try, as this thing is less than $40 on Amazon. The worst thing that could happen is that it doesn't work and I would call Sears.

I actually watched through Trace's videos fromt the review above and it was very helpful. I made sure to remove the water pipes carefully, and I used a cardboard box to land the washer on its front. Using standard tools that I have around the house I was able to get this Actuator replace in less than 15 mins.

Emerson CF765BS Loft Indoor Ceiling Fan, 60-Inch Blade Span, Brushed Steel Finish and Brushed Steel Blades

Modern, sleek, cool
I researched a lot of fans before getting this one. I bought 2 of them, one for my living room which is about 20 x 17 and one for my bedroom which is about 14 x 14. My wife and i love it. It moves air well, it's pretty energy efficient and it looks nice. Everyone comments on it. It doesn't wobble at all either on any of the 4 speeds. I didn't want a fan with a light because lighting always looks bad coming from the center of the room and it annoys me. I'll post up a couple pics.

Excellent Value - High Volume Fan, Great Design & Minimal Look -
As a sales representative for industrial fans for the past 5 years - this fan is a great fan. Which is hard to say as this brand is a competitor for us. It is at a great price point for its design/quality, in my line of work in fans, you get what you pay for.

What attracted me to it was the heavy pitched blades, this will allow air to scooped and propelled downwards quietly and efficiently at low RPM speeds.

I uploaded a couple photos of my application. When I moved in, the current ceiling fan was a basic residential model and did not work, my space is an octagon shape atrium that stretches to 22' at the peak and is 18' wide. It took some creativity to install it up there alone, but it assembled easy and looks fantastic.

It DOES come with a single pole switch with 4 speed settings(kind of cheapy looking to me). The fan motor is VARIABLE, so, if you do not wish to be stuck with the settings they give you, can order a Solid State Speed Control to set the...

Holes not included
This is a big beautiful fan that quietly moves a LOT of air. It is well made and comes with a very nice hard-wired speed control switch. I would give this product 5 stars except- The down rod was missing the essential holes for proper assembly. My unit had holes for the clevis pin in one end only. It was impossible to properly and safely assemble the fan as received. I fortunately have the necessary tools to drill the required holes through the stainless steel down rod, but I'm guessing that most consumers would be unwilling or unable to do this.

Cleaning the inside of the computer after months of use is probably necessary considering the amount of dust and hair that can collect inside and as we all know, this contributes to heat buildup which is always bad for electronics. In order to do a good job, we need a lot of suction power, so the USB or battery operated vacs and attachments are probably too weak. This kit readily attached to my Bissel Upright. It has a place near the vacuum hose, where one can adjust the amount of suction. The various components were more than adequate to do the job except in the smallest places like in the heat sinks, where one might want to use a small brush to get most of the dirt to the nozzle. Since the build up of static electricity could be a problem, it is a good idea to familiarize one self with proper grounding procedures. Otherwise this kit works as advertised.

Mini Vacuum
They started with a good idea but then they went for cheap. It comes in lots of little pieces and even though I pushed them together securely, they fell apart easily. Unfortunately, this happened while inside of the lint clean-out for my dryer. I do not recommend this product.

Wow! Great product!
I ordered this product partly based upon price (it was cheaper than another very similar set) and partily based upon rating. It was ordered 'yesterday', and arrived 'today'. I was a little disappointed in that there weren't any directions and it came in a plain box--no writing whatsoever in contrast to the picture (which tends to throw up my warning flags). However, it does appear to be the same product. [It just took a little 'playing' with it in order to determine the way the adapter parts fit into the vacuum hose.] I was also careful when using it, to do so for shorter periods of time, as a person in one review (either this or a similar product) talked about how his vacuum over-heated due to the restriction of air. However, at least with my set, the adapter piece has adjustable air vents. How Did I Live Without This Thing???
I purchased this handy sweeper from Sears because I wanted something to pick up after the kids and our pets without having to lug the big vacuum out all the time just to clean up small messes. I was initially skeptical at first, but I knew I would be able to return it to Sears if I wasn't entirely satisfied. The setup and assembly was very quick. Just screw the wands together, attach it to the base, then charge it up. The first charge needs a full 16 hours to condition the batteries, thereafter the unit only needs 12 hours to recharge. I couldn't believe what this thing picked up. Everything from cat hair, litter, crumbs, and just about everything else that manages to find its way to the floor and carpet. Of course, sweepers aren't meant for big, hefty jobs, or for deep cleaning your carpets(this is a job for your vacuum), but they sure come in handy for in-between cleanups of small spills and messes. However, it's important to remember that sweepers are *NOT* vacuums. They...

Great for smooth, wood floors; mediocre for tile floors
We bought the sweeper based on its Consumer Reports rating and were a bit disappointed. We have three types of hard floors in our home: Pergo, tile with shallow grout, and tile with deep grout. The sweeper is perfect on the Pergo, okay on the tile with shallow grout, and only so-so on the tile with deep grout. The suction is not strong enough to pick up the dirt in the deep grout.

Regardless of the floor type, long hair gets wrapped around the rotating bristles and must be cleaned by hand.

On a positive note, the profile of the cleaner is very short, making it a breeze to get under overhanging cabinets, beds, etc.

Ehhh. Better off using a real broom.
I purchased this little sweeper because the reviews here and on consumer Reports were pretty good. The unit was very easy to assemble and doesn't take up as much room as the others. It also holds a nice charge.
Here's the phooey part:
1. The side brushes stopped working after the 1st day. After they stopped working, the side brushes started hoarding the dirt rather than feeding it into the sweeper. Prior to my purchase, I was under the assumption that the side brushes were powered by the sweeper...but it really operates on a pushpull system. As you push the sweeper...the brushes rotate. On my second day, I was pushing and it was no longer moving.
2. The dirt bincatcher is too small and difficult to clean. I purchased this unit specifically for sweeping up dog hair. It picks up most of the stuff I go over (NOT ALL)...and when I go to empty it out...I have to pull out the dirt with my hands. It doesn't empty out easily. SO ANNNOYING!

Great Rotating Heater
I have this heater in my office at work and I had one at home. It is perfect for warming a nice sized space. My work office is about 10x10. At home I used it in the guest bedroom or my master bedroom if I didnt want the central heat on. I love that it rotates. With all the different heat settings you will find one that works for you. I'm buying another because I lent my home one to my parents and they plugged it into an outlet with about 10 other appliances, the breaker popped and burned the circuitry. (Not the fans fault). I would recommend to a friend.

I bought this heater because it has an all plastic casing surrounding the metal heating element. Therefore, I can put it on the floor and my young children will not be burned by it. It is also a very effective heater, easily heating a large bedroom or living room. However, with the thermastat on the heater, it won't overheat a room.

Great, sturdy, sharp-looking pegboard
I wanted something a little heavier-duty and slick looking than a standard pegboard. It's very easy to mount especially if you have a helper or a couple of things to set under it while you put in the first screws. Feels solid on the wall, got all of my tools on it with no problem, and looks great. I definitely recommend painting the wall behind it with a black chalkboard paint. I would definitely purchase it again and if I ever need more I'll either get more of these panels or one of Wall Control's larger offerings.

Great Alternative
This is a great option compared to the old school fiber peg board. The panels are made to sit away fom the wall, elimitating the need for spacers or backing. I was able to install 6 panels in about 30 minutes. They did not line up with the studs on the wall so I had to use dry wall anchors, but they seem like they will hold up to whatever I need to hang.

Too Small for Hoover Windtunnel Pet
I used these belts to replace one on a Hoover Wind Tunnel Pet. The belt here was too small, so the plastic melted and the metal pieces didn't stay in place any longer, and more plastic kept melting. We ended up having to buy a new vacuum cleaner.

Zojirushi EF-VSC40 1300-Watt Electric Gourmet Roaster

works great
been on a zojirushi appliance kick lately. ... neuro-fuzzy, portable skillet, grill, and now the fish roaster. wife is japanese and says these things are commonplace in a japanese household but typically built into the oven and not a separate appliance. i wish that were the case here as well.

anyway, next to the rice cooker, which we use everyday, this item gets the most use. seriously...almost daily. usually we make some kind of shioyaki (sake, gindara, aji, or saba) and sometimes gindara misoyaki. but we also use it for burgers, pork chops, steaks, etc.

there are many complaints on here about the smoke. yes, it can be excessive at times, especially with oily things like saba, a well-marbled wagyu steak, or a burger. but we just set it on a wooden cutting board on the stove and use the exhaust fan, and problem solved. besides, the smoke is precisely one of the main benefits of this roaster...sure it goes all over the house. but it also goes all over the food,...

Its great for what it does, but consider these things...
I just ordered my 2nd zojirushi fish roaster today. The first one I had quit working after about 11 months of constant use - I used it to roast Pike Mackerel, Steaks, vegetables, salmon, etc. For the amount that I used it, Im not too angered or surprised that it broke, but I wish it would last a little longer.

The roaster is awesome at cooking steaks and fish - and it gets done VERY quickly. Somewhere around 10-15 minutes from a raw fish, all the way to it being nicely cooked, same with steaks.

When I first bought the unit, there was very little smoke, just a faint smell of fish or steak, and I was very pleased. I probably used this everyday, or every other day for 11 months, and towards the end of the 11 months, it started getting really smokey in the house ( I dont know if the filter was failing, or if it was just all the oil on the heating elements), and I had to start taking the roaster outside - I live in a small apartment so its not a big deal, as I have a...

We use this for fish grilling. The dripping oil from the fish burns bottom heater and OH boy, it makes quite a smoke! Entire house gets very smoky so don't use it after you dressed up or expecting a guest. But top and bottom heater shortens grilling time and you don't have to flip a long or flaky fish so when you are in a hurry making dinners it's better than top heater only. We used Sanyo smokeless fish grill last 10 years and that only had a top heater, so we didn't have smoke problem (It makes a room a little fishy, but no smoke) This is very pricey plus we can't adjust the hight like Sanyo, so if I find Sanyo fish grill again (I didn't see it available when I was shopping) I'll go for it and I'll put this one away. As an every day fish eater Japanese, Zojirushi supposed to be very reliable brand, so I'm very disappointed in this product.

GE ADAPTER Refrigerator Water Filter Adapter

Beware..............
Consumers BEWARE! The GE Smartwater GWF filter is not a replacement for the old 'Culligan' FXRC metal filter. Despite the available adapter, the new Smartwater GWF filter was designed for a newer 'high-pressure' system installed in GE refrigerators manufactured after 2001. On the older models using normal water pressure [mine is a GE Performance Profile] these filters do not work. They will seem fine at first, only to run to a trickle in less than a month. I burned through several of these at @ $40.00 each until I discovered the problem.

With millions of wasted filters and dollars at stake, GE refuses to acknowledge the problem. I was told to find a technician at my expense. GE refused to replace the filters with a properly designed compatible model.

Works well, but GE has a design flaw...
This adapter should not really be needed and it is difficult to install, as you can not tell when the plastic part is correctly aligned with the metal threads in the refrig. If you don't get it aligned just right, the thread bosses on this plastic adapter will be damaged and water will not flow. I found it was much easiest to pull the frosted horizontal bulb cover out, (just pull it towards you) so I could see when the the plasitc and metal threads were aligned. This made it was easy to install without damage.

Simple and functional
Have a Kenmore (Sears) branded fridge that needed a new filter. When ordering new filters from Sears it turns out they changed to a different type of fitting on new filter, and they didn't state I needed the adapter now. Even their exploded diagrams on the parts list (even the updated online one) doesn't reflect a need for this adapter. Finally figured it out and am now able to use the right filter (older type fitting no longer manufactured).

As a side note, if you need the filters that fit this adapter, DO NOT order from Sears! Shipping is wicked expensive and local storefront does not stock them. Found them locally at Lowe's, and they are available online at Amazon as well.

Adapter is well built, durable, and works fine. Only gave 4 stars as (A) had to get the dang thing in the first place, and (B) it effectively lengthened the space needed to install the filter, so had to move shelf one slot down in the bracket holder.

Whirlpool Ice Door Kit 8201649 NEW 2180205 4388659 purchased 8/29/11 was received sooner than expected. As previous reviewers had mentioned there were no instructions. I found these instructions helpful:
1.Find the two notches that are at the bottom of the dispenser cover on the left and right side. Pry off the cover with the flat-head screwdriver.{Yes, the front panel should just snap off. If you look under the bottom edge there is often a couple small slots. Put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and pop the front off."
2. Find and remove the two screws that are used to secure the white switchplate with the screwdriver. Pull the switchplate out of the door and set it aside.
3. Remove the front cover assembly to access the ice dispenser housing. Locate the ice dispenser lever and take it out of the housing. This will expose the door mechanism assembly.
4. Press on the torsion spring and take out the door mechanism assembly.
5. Examine the door mechanism...

cheap fix
As said before, this is an inexpensive fix to the ice chute freezing up. Directions are not included other than replace all parts. I just used my camera phone to take picks of old setup before I removed the parts so I would know how it went back together. Hardest part is getting the front trim cover off of the door to expose screws. Be real careful prying from the bottom slots so as not to break the very expensive trim, then it just slides up with only 1 connector to unplug to remove it completely. Very easy fix once trim removed.

Perfect Replacement!
Was thrilled to find this replacement part on Amazon and saved big bucks over Sears parts store! It fit perfectly and was easy to install!

PolyScience Sous Vide Professional CREATIVE Series Thermal Immersion Circulator

Fantastic for 63 C eggs!
I have spend alot of time with my units. I say units because the first one would not heat past 78C with out locking up with some sort of error message. Its pretty hard to finish a dish in the middle of dinner with out it hittting the temp you need. Upon calling Polyscience they informed me i had a bad unit and to contact the vendor i bought it from. They had a great return policy and sent me out a replacement unit the same day no questions asked.

Upon getting my replacement i have had it 6 months with almost daily use, and its still working fine. 63C eggs are something ive really enjoyed placing on ramen, salads, or just toast.
72 hour pork belly is pretty amazing as well.

Keep in mind this is the entry level unit and can heat only up to 4 gallons. I would recommend getting the insulated food safe balls from Mcmaster Carr to help keep the heat in and water from evaporating for 24+ cooking applications. Also the large lexan tub is helpful as well as...

Great for home sous vide
I have this attached to a medium-sized polycarb storage bin and it is able to keep the water at a constant temperature (+/- 0.1 degree C). My only complaint is that cooking temperature resets to its lowest setting when I unplug the unit -- which I do when not using it. This means that I need to hold down the "+" button for about a minute after plugging in the unit to get it back to a reasonable cooking temperature.

Excellent When Working, But Cannot Be Repaired.
This is the first product I've ever panned. I have both the Creative Series and a Chef's Series Immersion Circulators. The problem is not that they don't do a superb job of sous vide cooking. They do. The problem is what happens if they malfunction. The more expensive Chef's series is made in the U.S.A. and can be repaired by Polyscience. The less costly Creative Series is made in China and cannot be repaired. If it fails during the one year warranty period, Polyscience will replace it. But if it fails after the first year the best they'll do is offer you a 25% discount on a new one. By the way, the newly-announced Discovery model circulator is also made in China.

We purchased this item in order to add one more bin to the door of our new Frigidaire refrigerator (26 cubic foot model FFHS 2611 LWB). As far as I can tell it is an exact replacement for the units supplied with the refrigerator. The bin is white, NOT clear, as shown in the photo. On our refrigerator, there is room for this additional bin, provided the items in the bin are not too tall. Adding two bins would be very cramped.

Hamilton Beach 31197 Countertop Oven with Convection and Rotisserie

Top-notch
I bought this product at Sam's Club the other day. The product is great and I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in a rotisserie. Having a regular toaster oven and a convection oven in the same unit is a great bonus! The unit comes with two wire shelves, two pizza racks (like cookie sheets but with holes in the bottom; great for Hot Pockets) that fit on top of the wire shelves, a 1" deep backing pan, a wire rack that fits inside the backing pan, two rotisserie forks (for holding the meat on the spic), a rotisserie spic, and a rotisserie handle (for lifting it out of a hot oven).

Installation: A piece of cake. The unit comes packed in Styrofoam with the shelves and pans inside the unit; the rotisserie accessories came loose in the box but bagged in plastic. All I had to do was to wipe it down, wash the racks, and plug the box in.

Performance of the toaster oven: It toasts but boy is there a lot of room in here.

A Very Good Small Oven
Actual rating 4 1/2 stars. A half point deduction for door misalignment. The door doesn't seal like it's suppose to. It's not really a seal but a much larger gap than allowed. Either the the frame or the door is slightly warped. A minor error, however, as it still bakes near perfectly and I didn't detected any real heat escaping. I still consider the build of the oven very good.

I tested all features and they work excellent. Convection is very good and cooks much faster and is quiet. Much more quiet than the Toastmaster convection which was extremely noisy! This feature is also handy for quick warm-ups or making bread rise. The rotisserie also works very good. You must tie the the chicken up well, however.

The timer does not exactly stop on zero. It seems to go on 2 minutes or more. Again, a minor thing. Just compensate for this. It could be because the timer is also the onoff switch.

Pretty good
This is not a $500 Cuisinart, but then it's not $500. I found mine at Macy's for about thirty percent less than most retailers, and at that price it was certainly worth trying. I bought mine to replace a fifteen year old toaster oven that I often found myself pushing beyond its limits. (It also caught fire while toasting frozen lumpia, but that's another story)

Plusses? Inexpensive, large capacity, room to cook a small turkey or a couple loaves of bread without heating up the big stove. Minuses? It's kind of lightweight. The rotisserie won't handle much of a load. It's slow to heat up, especially compared to the typical toaster over. And it won't make toast.

But overall, it's not a bad deal, and if you entertain with a small kitchen- as I do- it's pretty useful.

Followup: I've had this oven for two and a half years now, and it's still in almost daily use. You can't say that about too many inexpensive products these days.

GE WH1X2721 GE Washer Washing Machine White Timer Knob

A tip for owners of this product
Yes, mine went to junk almost immediately, but here's a tip that might help. Go to your accompanying GE washing machine and you'll find the load size knob is the same knob. Before you switch it, fill the three side recesses of back of the the knob with glue or filler. Let it dry, then use the washer knob between the two. (I rarely change load size so mine is mostly on the dryer.)

But, let me tell you, this is the best knob ever. it fit my GE drier like it was made for it (well, i guess it was, so that makes sense) but really, if you need a white knob for your GE drier, that happens to be one of the driers listed here. you'll be mighty happy. You can thank me later.

Did not receive what I ordered
I ordered the freezer because it had an auto defrost, I do not want to be defrosting a freezer. It has a maual defrosst. I feel I have been duped or they gave me a switcheroo....I contactaced the company on the 6th and I have still not received an acknowlegement, I like the freezer itself, and I really could not return the unit because it was a food emergency, so I could not wait for a new one. But I was swindled.....

The 5.0 cu. ft. freezer meets the size I need for my household. I chose this item because of the size and the frost free feature. I am happy with my choice.

Cost savings
The freezer is light weight and just the right size for an apartment. I bought the freezer because I have teenagers and young adults in the family. To ensure they are eating right I stock the freezer so they can come and get food. The freezer is cost effective with cents on the dollar in electrical usage.

Very quiet, wonderful fan, low profile, only 13 inch high with light included. I got brushed steel with silver/white reversible blades. It took 3 hours to install with replacing an old one, my husband who's very handy had no problems.120 watt bulbs, candelabra base, included are sufficient for our 2 bedrooms 14x18 feet each. Modern design, no wobble. Highly recommend. Got 52" inch one for the living room.

AC-813 Duracraft Humidifier Wick Filter (2 Pack)

Got the filters really quickly. Also enjoyed the fact that the seller sends them just as is without packaging. Do take advantage of a double order without extra shipping cost. I thought I had, but didn't! That was my only regret, but that was my fault! I'll buy again from this seller with no hesitation.

As expected.
The filters were exactly as expected. I was surprised to find this product, because the humidifier is very old and I thought they did not make them anymore. They work well.

Not as good as original but worth the money
Fits the specified humidifier and works just fine. A little less rigid so easy to scrunch when you refill the humidifier. Such a good value for the cost I would still recommend it.

Mr. Heater MH15 Single Tank Top Outdoor Propane Heater

Best propane heater that I have ever used for a ice shelter and camping tent.
I have used many heaters for ice fishing for my tents and of all the ones I have used this one is by far the best one I have ever used. It puts off plenty of heat for a 2 man, 3 man, and 4 man ice fishing tents with no problem it does so well that after about 25 minutes to 35 minutes of use in an ice fishing tent my buddies and I have to turn it down to either low or off because this heater WILL bake you out of the tent LOL. I have also used this in camping tents with no problems at all, we usually run the heater for about 35 minutes to get the tent nice and warm then turn it off and get into our sleeping bags. Just make sure that you don't kick this over after you turn it off in a camping tent it stays warm for awhile and it will melt/burn the hell out of your tent. I highly recommend this heater for anybody that camps or ice fishes in high altitude areas, unlike other heaters that have touchy low oxygen sensors and shut off and have a hard time reigniting this one will not give...

This heats up!
I am Bryan's wife. He bought this heater for me. I like to use a little heater in the bathroom when I shower in the cold months. This heater has the bathroom like a sauna when I get out. Let me also mention, I have the water on hot, usually the mirror is full of steam. However, with this heater on, only half the mirror is covered. I love it!!

Old school need
These work great for anyone that has an old school canister vaccum. I am using the one that my parents had that I grew up with. It still works so there is no need to buy new. Perfect for hard-wood floors so the bags were ideal for this and very very affordable.

ancient Eureka
I have an ancient Eureka that I gave up looking for bags like 8 yrs. ago. (been using the same bag over and over) The filters I've been using cut rags. I am one happy camper

Nautilus/broan Mfg. 99010042 Replacement Exhaust Fan Filter Aluminum 9-1/2"

Glad I found this
I have no idea what kind of exhaust fan is in my 1954 kitchen. I didn't even know that it needed a filter. There wasn't one when I bought the house. You could look up through the grill cover and see the dirty greasy fan blades. It worked, but I didn't like to use it unless things got smokey. I was looking for a filter for something else and this filter popped up. I would have given it a 5, but the center hole isn't quite big enough to slip over the center bolt. I was still able to tighten the nut to put grill back on though. Now I don't get grossed out when I look up.

hard to find filters
These work better than the original filter, couldn't' find at either of the chain hardware stores; great buy for the money excellent quality.

Best Purchase in the History of Man
Obviously built of top quality materials by old world craftsmen. This exceeds specifications for use on the space shuttle. Fantastic price and awesome shipping. My life is now complete and I'm OK to die now. I just hope I don't so I can spread the news of this awesome filter. Installing it was better than sex with a porn star. Don't buy one, buy several. I'm going to be giving them as Christmas gifts this year. You better hope you're on my list!!!

Hamilton Beach 68010 Snowman Ice Shaver

Affordable Shave Ice Fun
My family has been using the Hamilton Beach Snowman Ice Shaver for a couple weeks now and we love it. I think it's one of the best things to get kids for the summer. When kids are hot, it's a great way to cool them off with something fun and healthy. Just freeze some grape juice or other yummy, healthy drink, and turn it into a shave ice!

Pros:

--Great price

--Easy operation and cleaning

--Works with both ice molds (included) and any ice cubes

--Compact, vertical, space-saving design

--Comes with a good recipe suggestion booklet

Cons (these are all very minor):

--Sharp blade exposed on underside, so do not let kids operate or clean without close supervision

--The manual needs to be updated to reflect the newer design, which actually has fewer pieces that need to be cleaned; this model no longer has a "nut" holding the metal wheel in place, although the manual refers to it...

Great little ice shaver!
It's very quick and easy to use! Just plug it in, put the ice in the holder (which has one sharp blade), set the top on it, and press down. It takes less than a minute to make a bowl full of fine-textured ice. The texture is closer to snow than the little ice balls you get with a lot of snow shavers. The molds have lids, so you can stack them in the freezer. It's easy to clean the ice holder and molds, but to clean the top part (which holds the motor) you must remove a bolt and wash the bolt and a metal disc by hand. It's quieter than your average blender crushing ice. I love cold treats, and this is perfect for that-- a bowl of shaved ice with a little fruit juice poured over it is VERY refreshing!

Snowman Ice Shaver
I bought this machine before any description or reviews were posted and hoped for the best. I was pleasantly surprised in what this machine can do. One trick to this machine though, is to definately freeze the liquid that you want to use in the machine first. Conveniently, this shaver comes with two round freezing containers which fit the shaver compartment exactly. I have tried shaving just plain ice first and then adding liquids, but because this machine generates snow, the snow tends to melt before you get a chance to enjoy it. If you freeze it first, the snow cones last a long time and are much better. All that you have to do is put ice into the shaving compartment and push down on the top. You do not have to push for very long or very hard and the entire ice block will be shaved. If you are looking for a manual snow cone machine, I would highly recommend this one as an inexpensive, reliable candidate.

Dyson DC25 Hose Assembly #915677-01

common connector problem
I was fortunate to have my Dyson work beautifully for two years before the clips on the end of the hose broke off. I've read many reviews stating the clips broke within a few months of purchasing. I was about to order a replacement, but decided to call Dyson customer service first. My Dyson is registered and still under warranty, but there are always exclusions. I was happy and excited to learn the hose would be replaced free of charge, no questions asked!! Remember to register your purchases! By the way, if you're considering the Dyson pet vacuum attachment, IT'S AMAZING! We have two Labs, lots of dog hair. Vacuuming them a few times a week keeps them and our home so much cleaner!

Dyson Is Like New Again
A little notch on the hose of one of my Dyson DC25 Animals had snapped off so the hose wouldn't always stay on properly. I ordered this hose and it was a genuine Dyson product. Now my Dyson is like new again. I love that you can easily replace parts on the Dysons.

Wish I didn't have to replace this hose, ever.
This is the 3rd hose I've had to get for my Dyson over 5 years. Seems there's a bit of a flaw in the design since they break so easily w/ light use. For the hose itself, there was nothing on it to indicate it is a Dyson product other than a sticker on the bag. It fit on my vacuum just fine, but I'm not convinced it's genuine as the description says.

Best purchase I ever made!
My central heat went out and I ordered this unit to get by temporarily. With ceiling fans circulating the air this unit heats my entire house! Who needs central heat? I strongly recommend this product.

will never go back to the standard plug in Heaters
Seeing how I had an open 250 wall socket from a old a/c that went bad....i decided to buy this Heater for the back rooms of my old double wide for the upcoming winter.
The last few years I have been using just them standard plug in electric heaters, you know, the $30 dollar ones you see in the stores as winter approaches.
This Heats up great! It's not to loud...way better than any standard 115 volt plug in wall unit. The BTU's on this is almost TRIPLE to any standard heater. This has 13,000 BTU, a standard 115 plug in heater max is 5100 BTU.
For less than $100 it's a great investment!
If you have a 250 20 amp socket, get this! If not, them plug in ones ain't too bad (Radiator kinds).

Very good heater
Bought 2 of these to supplement our pellet stove in our living room.

First of all, please note these are 220 volt, you will probably need to have some electrical work done first. These will not plug into a standard 110v outlet.

We have trouble getting the living room temp up because it is large (15 x 30) with lots of windows (double pane). Also, it is an addition and of the 90 feet of walls, 75 feet are outside walls. The insulation is there, but nothing fancy. Fiberglass between 2x4 studs.

After working all day we do not have a lot of time to relax in the living room. The pellet stove is great for the weekends, but during the week it takes too long heat up the living room. By the time it gets warm, it's time to sleep.

Today the packages were waiting on the doorstep, opened them up and plugged them in. Faint "new heater" smell, not bad. 18 degrees F outside, had to turn the heaters down after about an hour to keep from roasting. I think that...

Oreck Commercial AV-701B Cord-Free 2-in-1 Rechargeable Electric Broom with Detachable Hand Held Vacuum

This is a WINNER!!
I have owned this wonderful product for nearly 4 three years and it's still going strong. Our GreatRoom (kitchen, living & dining room areas) has hardwood floors and carpets and the Oreck handles everything with ease. I really love the detachable feature. With one button ease I'm able to remove the head and get crumbs around the refrigerator and prep areas, dust along the edges and get crumbs in the drawers. Why wipe when you can vacuum? Oreck's powerful suction picks up sugar spills on the counter and floor in a flash and the beater-bar does a nice job on low profile rugs. I use it everyday after the grandkids leave to freshen up and it keeps a charge for nearly a week. It won't replace your big vac but it will save you dragging it out for quick pickups. It's so light weight that my 3 yr old granddaughter even insists on picking up her own messes. The broom stores easily too. It's well constructed and looks as good today as it did when it was brand new.

vacuum got no suck!
I've had my Oreck "electric broom" for about 4 years now and it never ceases to underwhelm me. It has never had much suction at best, but if you really want to disappoint, try the hand held dust buster attachment by itself. I could do a better job with my hands and a dust pan. I guess i've only put up with it for this long because it was an attractive little vacuum and i kept hoping..... So I'm now disallusioned and am looking for another model stick vacuum so i can get rid of this thing altogether. Look somewhere other than Oreck for your stick vacuum! I like my regular upright Oreck,though, but their cannister vac isn't very good either.

Low Suction and Battery Life
Battery Life is only 15 Minutes and then requires charging.
The Suction is not very strong.
I would not buy this product again.
