Definately DO buy it!!!
This has to be the Cadillac of steam irons, it is fully featured and easy to use. Oliso currently manufacturers 3 models of irons, the TG-1050, the TG-1600, and this one, the TG-1100 which I am reviewing. Many manufatures claim to have steam irons that don't drip or spit, many seem to fall shot. I don't know how Oliso did it but their's is not an empty promise. You also get 3 levels of steam, low, medium, and high, plus off. Not only does the iron lift when you remove your hand from the handle, it shuts off the steam as well. It also is able to steam in the vertical position to steam wrinkles out of such things as curtains or clothing. The steam burst button causes the iron to shoot out a cloud of steam. Because if it's great steaming capability, I've not yet had the need to use the spray button.k
The lifting mechanism is truely ingenious, release the handle and the legs lift it off the fabric or ironing board in about 1 second thus making it impossible to scorch or...
Great iron, reduces strain
I bought this iron for my grandmother who is a seamstress. She absolutely loves it and tells all of her friends about it, too. It not only has great steam, but it has a nice pointed tip area for making nice seams and of course it lifts itself up so you don't have to worry about burning clothes or yourself. Best of all, my grandmother doesn't have to lift the iron any more since it stays horizontal... she has arthritis and it makes it difficult to iron when she has to keep lifting it. For that alone it's a great value. You should also watch this iron in action on the company's website--it's pretty amazing.
Replaced my leaky Rowenta
I returned my Rowenta that stopped steaming and started leaking after only a couple months of use, and I bought this. I've had it a few weeks now and I'm used to the smart lift and I like it! It's not quite as hot and the steam isn't quite as powerful as the high end Rowenta I returned, but since I've had THREE Rowentas in 2 years, all with the same problems, I decided to give a different brand a try. I sew almost every day so my iron gets used every day, not just when I need to iron my clothes. So far this one heats up quickly, fills up easily and steams when I need it. I will report back if it I have any problems :)
