Holmes HAP9412B-U Small Room HEPA Type Air Purifier

Amazing
have had this product for almost a year now. i purchased it on sale at Target for $40. I have not replaced the filter i just vacuum it out monthly and it is still performing very well. Its actually really gross how much dust this product removes from the air i breathe. The noise it generates (which isnt too loud) helps me sleep at night. I keep this thing running on high 24/7 because i have a dog that sheds (picks up his hair as well). the device has two filters the pre-filter which can be washed by hand (i spray some febreze on it to keep my room fresh. and then the regular filter. I would definetly recommend this air purifier.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!: another year has passed and i have changed the filter only once. Vacuuming it really freshens it up. I still leave it on high 24/7 only shutting it off once a week for an hour or so. The air purifier picks up so much dust and pet hair that it actually builds up on the outside part where the air intakes. All you need to do...

Great for Dorm Room
I purchased this product from Target about 4 months ago and it's still working well. After living in my dorm for a few weeks, I developed some throat irritation. I figured it had to do with the fact that there is no ventilation (except for hallway vents/windows). Since purchasing this air filter, my problem has gone away, the room smells better, and there's been less dust (I've been using the original "all purpose filter"- the freshening effect only works for about a week, but the filter is still fine). This has also helped with my allergies (and my roommates). Case in point- I had the windows open one day, and after closing them, I didn't turn on the air filter. The following morning, we both awoke with horrible sneezing. The next day, I had the windows closed and the fan on. The following morning was symptom free.

The fan has three speed settings. 1 and 2 are very quiet, and don't circulate air very well. They're mostly just for "quiet" marketing. Setting 3 produces more...

Great product for the price.
We use this in the master bedroom as both an air purifier and a white noise generator. Medium setting works great. Filters are cheaper at Target - @29 for a 2-pack. We use the aer1 Total air filters.
